Cookbook for R » Colors (ggplot2) for the color blind (Not a joke!)

Problem

You want to use colors in a graph with ggplot2.

Solution

The default colors in ggplot2 can be difficult to distinguish from one another because they have equal luminance. They are also not friendly for colorblind viewers.

A good general-purpose solution is to just use the colorblind-friendly palette below.

  1. Unfortunately, as I realised, there are several forms of colour-impairedness. While the post contains a link with information on how to do it right, the presented solution is not categorised. To which form of colorblindness do the two cb_ and cbb_ palettes refer?
